Lani Leydig
Coordinator of Congregational Care
|
Lani was born in Honolulu, Hawaii right at the end of WWII. As a result she returns to Hawaii as often as possible and feels most at home swimming with the tropical fish. She grew up in Santa Ana, California where her Mom led her Girl Scout troop all the way through High School. Her Dad was one of the first men to be a card carrying Girl Scout so he could go on all the camping, canoeing, and backpacking trips her troop enjoyed. She can show you how to tie a bowline single handed! She got a degree in Biology from Stanford where she met husband, Donald. Four days after their wedding they went off to Lybia North Africa to teach English in the Peace Corps. Upon their return they settled in San Mateo and Lani found CCSM for their church home. Their daughters, Wendi, Erin, and Ashley grew up in the church. Having been a member here for over 30 years, it was natural that Lani knew many of the pillars of this church as they played the role of a family of grandparents to her girls. So when the opportunity to work as the Coordinator of Congregational Care came up, she was excited to accept the position.
