Board of Ministries

Our Sunday volunteers make our worship services run smoothly. Sunday volunteers are needed in a variety of capacities.
Greeters – Welcome visitors and guests to worship. Answer questions and provide directions as needed. Time Commitment: Once every 4-6 weeks, arrive early.
Usher Team – Prepare the Sanctuary for worship services, seat people as they arrive, take up the offering and direct people during communion. Time Commitment: Once every 4-6 weeks, arrive early.
Chancel Choir – Join the main choral group at CCSM. Open to all. Ability to carry a tune and match pitch required. Time Commitment: Weekly rehearsal and Sunday worship.
Carillon Handbell Choir – Seasonal – Play as scheduled for our Sunday worship services and for other events at church and in the community. You must read music. Time Commitment: Weekly rehearsal and several Sunday throughout the year.
Communion Servers – Serve communion to congregants the first Sunday of every month. Time Commitment: Once a month.
Church School Assistants – Support our Children’s Ministry by taking a turn assisting our teachers in the classroom during the year. Take attendance and greet children at the door as they arrive. Simple background check is required. Time Commitment: Once per school semester.
Coffee Connections Team – Provide extravagant welcome and light refreshments at our coffee hour after worship. Work with a small team to provide refreshments, set up, serve, and clean up. Time Commitment: Once every 3 months, 45 minutes-1 hour, arrive early.
Our Care volunteers offer practical and compassionate care support to our congregants. These volunteer opportunities complement the pastoral care provided by our ministerial staff.
Companion Ministry – *NEW* Provide companionship to our congregants in need. You will be assigned to regularly visit a congregant requesting assistance. This is an ongoing ministry with a one-year commitment. No prior experience is necessary and training will be required.
Home Communion Team – Join our teams that deliver home communion, at least one quarterly at mutually agreed upon times, to those of our members who are unable to attend worship. You will receive training and a CCSM communion kit. If you would like to partake in this heartwarming experience of sharing home communion, please request information.
Ride Share – This is an easy way to support our beloved community. Give a ride to and from church to people who cannot drive to Sunday service or other church events themselves.
Our behind-the-scenes support keeps CCSM running! Here are ways you can help.
Reception Desk – Staff main reception desk Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Training provided.
Office Angels – Lend your project management and office skills to support our staff with various office tasks and special projects.

Our ministry teams are longer standing volunteer teams that coordinate closely with our clergy and staff to brainstorm, strategize, make recommendations, recruit volunteers and develop plans on how to effectively do ministry in various areas of church life.

Our Board of Ministries are elected leaders whose responsibility is to embody CCSM’s guiding principles, vision, mission, and our congregation’s voice into policies that enable us to achieve those ends. They monitor CCSM’s performance and provide strategic direction.
